The chance that Arne Slot will take a defender from Feyenoord to his new club Liverpool in his wake is ‘more than fifty percent’, says sports chief Marcel van der Kraan The Telegraph. In a video item in the morning newspaper, the journalist sheds light on the possible switch from the Dutch international to the Premier League.

“I think the chance that Geertruida will go there is greater than fifty percent,” says Van der Kraan. “He is on the radar and has done fantastic in the Dutch national team and in the Champions League, he is a boy who physically fits the Premier League best of all Feyenoord players.”

Van der Kraan has no doubt that the 23-year-old defender will succeed in the English competition, which is known for being physically demanding. “I have no doubts about Geertruida, I have seen him play so much,” says the journalist. He also has a suspicion about the transfer fee: “At least thirty million. Feyenoord could sell him last year for 25 million (to RB Leipzig, ed.), but the club did not do that. He now has another year of contract, I think there is a significant amount of money has to be put on the table.”

Geertruida has been with Feyenoord since 2012, which at the time plucked him from the youth of fellow city rival Sparta. In 2017 he made his debut in a cup match with the amateurs of AVV Swift (4-1 win) in the main squad, but in the 2019/20 season the right back and central defender really grew into a starting position. He has now made 195 appearances for the Rotterdam team in all competitions, scoring 22 times and providing ten assists. The rumors about a transfer to Liverpool were fueled considerably when Geertruida, accompanied by his agent, took a seat among the Liverpool fans in the away section during the Premier League match against West Ham United (2-2) last weekend.
