Club top scorer Van Wolfswinkel (35) is committed to another year at FC Twente | Football

The 35-year-old Van Wolfswinkel is still important for FC Twente in the autumn of his career. In fact, with fourteen goals, he is currently the top scorer at the club, for which he has been playing since the summer of 2021 after four years at FC Basel.

Now Van Wolfswinkel will most likely play the preliminary round of the Champions League with FC Twente. “Three years ago I joined FC Twente and I had one big goal: with FC Twente in Europe,” the striker said on the club website on Sunday.

“In recent years, we have built something very beautiful with pride, ambition and a good dose of common sense. Not only on the field, but also off it. The path we have taken is unique. I am immensely (very, very, ed.) proud that I am part of this and I will be there again next year.”

Technical director Arnold Bruggink is happy that Van Wolfswinkel will also play for FC Twente next season. “Ricky has made a major contribution to the club’s performance in recent years and also plays a very positive role within the selection. Ricky proves in every training and in every match that he is top fit and has a great drive.”

With Van Wolfswinkel probably in the striker, FC Twente hopes to secure third place against competitor AZ on Sunday afternoon and thus a ticket for the third qualifying round of the Champions League. The match between the numbers three and four of the Eredivisie starts in Alkmaar at 4.45 pm.
