‘Xavi Simons can leave Paris Saint-Germain for a sensational return’

--

Xavi Simons may return to FC Barcelona next season. The Dutch international is being rented out by Paris Saint-Germain to RB Leipzig this season and will in principle return to Paris after the summer, but due to a special clause in his contract, it is not inconceivable that Simons will play for Barça next season.

With that reporting comes Mundo Deportivo coming up. The contract of the attacking midfielder and winger contains a certain provision that gives him the right to choose a club himself if he is loaned out again.

That’s where the door to Barcelona opens. As is known, Frenkie de Jong’s employer does not have the financial resources to complete major permanent transfers, so a rental deal for a player with the qualities of 21-year-old Simons is a golden solution.

The former PSV player would also be happy to return Blaugrana. Simons played for years in Barcelona’s youth academy and had a successful period at La Masía.

Knowing that Barcelona would like to finalize the deal, Simons has scheduled a meeting with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi. The born Amsterdammer wants to convince his employer to agree to the switch.

A permanent transfer from Simons to Barcelona seems completely unfeasible. PSG reportedly demands an amount of at least one hundred million euros to let go of the Leipzig trendsetter, a sum that Joan Laporta absolutely cannot afford on behalf of Barça.

Simons is making a big impression in Germany this season. In 42 games for Leipzig, he has so far scored 9 goals and 15 assists.
