Jutta Leerdam (25) chooses an individual route in her skating career. After her break with the Jumbo skating team, the skater was actually going to sign with Team IKO, but that did not happen. Jutta said this on Instagram.
“It’s often stressful, it’s lonely sometimes, but when I win it’s worth it”
‘In the past two months there has been a lot of doubting, weighing up and trying to fit into certain structures. This week I was about to choose, it was 50/50,” she begins her story on Instagram. Yet she chooses herself. ‘An individual route is not always fun. It’s often stressful, it’s lonely sometimes, but when I win it’s worth it.”
Jutta goes all-in. ‘If I do it, I do it well. High risk, high reward.’ The skater hopes to win gold medals with this. ‘Ultimately, this sports-technical route is the best for me this pre-Olympic season. I want to learn, invest and return to where I came from. Working really hard and getting out of my comfort zone.’
The skater is optimistic, but also sees that there are risks involved. “If that doesn’t work, then I have followed my feelings and when I hopefully live to be a very old man, I will look back on a career that I am proud of,” she writes. ‘That is the most valuable thing to me.’
