Olympiacos achieved a historic achievement on Thursday by reaching the final of the Conference League. The Greek club won 0-2 against Aston Villa in the semi-finals and is in a European final for the first time.

After the 4-2 win in the first leg, Olympiacos had the best credentials to go to the final. After ten minutes the party started in Greece, when Ayoub El Kaabi opened the score on a pass from Quini.

Aston Villa did everything they could to get the equalizer on the scoreboard before half-time, but both Leon Bailey and Douglas Luiz missed big chances. Even after the break, the home team managed to keep the number four of the Premier League on a clean sheet.

In the 79th minute, Moroccan trendsetter El Kaabi dealt yet another blow to Villa, which was still too strong for Ajax in the eighth finals. He scored his fifth goal in the diptych.

Olympiacos is the second Greek club to reach a European final. Panathinaikos was in the European Cup final 53 years ago and lost 2-0 to Ajax.

In the final, Olympiacos will face Fiorentina, which will reach the final for the second year in a row. The final will take place on May 29 in Athens, which is 10 kilometers away from Piraeus, the base of Olympiacos.
