Some iPhone users are complaining about an annoying problem with the alarm clock on their smartphone, which prevents the alarm from making any sound. Apple has already said it is working on a fix.
Many iPhone users say that their alarm goes off, but makes no sound. The problem became known after several TikTok users complained about it. Then it was picked up by the Today Show, a well-known American TV program.
The Today Show contacted Apple about the problem. The company responded by saying that it is aware that “some” users are experiencing issues and that it is working on a solution. It is not known how many iPhones are affected or which models are affected by the bug.
Turn off attention detection
Some TikTok users believe they have found a solution to the problem. According to them, it is possible that alarms will be automatically dimmed by the ‘Attention Detection’ function. That setting allows your iPhone to detect whether you are looking at your screen. At the same time, however, it dims the sounds of notifications and possibly also the alarm.
The feature can be disabled in your Settings app. This can be done by pressing Face ID and then going to Passcode. Here you can uncheck the attention detection function. However, this solution does not seem to work for all users.
iOS update
The solution promised by Apple will soon follow in a new iOS update. This could be iOS 17.4.2 or iOS 17.5, but the company has not yet provided clarity about this.
