After months of uncertainty and speculation, Alphen aan den Rijn has finally received a redeeming message: the 2024 Annual Fair will take place as usual!
At the beginning of this year, the Annual Market Foundation announced that they had decided not to apply for a permit for the annual event this year. After several discussions with the Municipality, the foundation had to conclude that organizing the annual fair this year has become financially unfeasible.
The Municipality comes up with new requirements every year, but for the coming season these requirements seemed to have been increased to such an extent that the costs would skyrocket. As a result, the organization was forced to skip the popular event for the residents of Alphen aan den Rijn this year.
Alphen residents reacted with shock to this, the event has been around longer than we can remember. Alphen councilors sat down with the Annual Market Foundation and a clear conclusion emerged: everyone wanted the Annual Market to continue as usual. It has now been decided that the 2024 Annual Fair will continue as usual! On Wednesday September 18th you can again enjoy the nicest stalls in the center of Alphen.
