Johan Derksen must make the mandatory online course on respectful collaboration normal. His employer Talpa, as one of the initiators, wants ‘all colleagues, regardless of contract type and position, to follow e-learning’, a spokeswoman said.
“It is important to us that everyone within our network goes through this training, and we are actively committed to promoting this,” the spokeswoman continued. “We do this, among other things, by actively helping to remind, monitor and engage in conversation.”
Derksen said on Tuesday evening in the SBS6 talk show Today Inside that he did not intend to take the course, after guest Job Knoester said that he had done the e-learning. Derksen claimed that he has not yet received an invitation and called it ‘nonsense’ and ‘bullshit’. “There is nothing about that in my contract, so I just don’t do that.”
Abuses
Wilfred Genee and René van der Gijp also indicated that they have not yet taken the course. The VI trio still has some time for that. Political reporter Merel Ek stated in the broadcast on Tuesday that the training must be completed before April 12.
The course is an initiative of the Media Pact Respectful Cooperation, a collaboration between various parties that was founded after abuses at The Voice of Holland. The aim of the course is to combat undesirable behavior in Hilversum. Employees of NPO, RTL and Talpa, among others, must complete the e-learning.
