Market Month puts market vendors in the spotlight: “Anyone who makes purchases at the market has a chance to win great prizes” (Mechelen)

The city of Mechelen is once again supporting Market Month in April. For a whole month, visitors to the various Mechelen markets have a chance to win prizes such as vouchers and even an electric bicycle. The city wants to put the market vendors in the spotlight.

The Market Month is an initiative of the various Flemish provinces and the Flemish Federation for Ambulatory Trade to put the market in the spotlight. The city of Mechelen is also supporting the initiative for the second year in a row. Because you can do your shopping, breathe in the fresh air and have a nice chat in Mechelen at the Saturday market, the retail market and the market in the Leest sub-municipality.

“These different markets provide real added value for our city,” says Economy Councilor Greet Geypen (For Mechelen). “They are not only lively meeting places, but also important drivers of our local economy. They often attract not only market visitors, but also shoppers to the nearby local traders. This creates a vibrant economic dynamic.”

“This initiative emphasizes the importance of our markets,” says Luc Mariën, chairman of Markta and better known as Luc Vis. “In addition to a varied offering, they create a warm and cozy atmosphere in the city. Our market vendors welcome everyone with open arms, whether you are a loyal visitor or an occasional visitor. With Market Month we strengthen the bond with visitors.”

Prices

Anyone who buys something at the market during the month of April has a chance to win many great prizes. For each purchase you receive a scratch card that can, for example, provide you with vouchers for the market. In addition, the city of Mechelen released 1,000 euros in prizes, including Mechelen vouchers and tickets for the Hof van Busleyden museum and the Sint-Romboutstoren. You can also win an electric bicycle worth 2,699 euros via the province of Antwerp.

Anyone who has a scratch card that has a chance to win a prize must register with the winning ticket via the Month of the Market website. The winners will be drawn from the registered tickets.
