NIJKERK On Saturday, May 25, the 63rd Veluwe walking tour will take place through Nijkerk and the surrounding area. “It will again be a spectacle with seven music bands over distances of 5 to 40 kilometers, in which about 4,000 people participate,” the organization said. To manage the major walking event, the organization is urgently looking for volunteers.
An event in which around 4,000 people participate requires a lot of organization in advance and on the day itself. “Many traffic controllers are always needed to prevent accidents and volunteers to help with the many tasks on such a day. This ranges from setting up the starting desk at Manege Luxool and cleaning it up afterwards, to designating places for bicycles and cars,” the organization explains. “On average, you spend half a day working as a volunteer. We need about 20, in addition to the regular volunteers. So far we only have a handful of registered volunteers.”
