Joey Veerman is really enjoying the qualities of Jerdy Schouten in the current season, as he said on Thursday evening at the press conference after the victory over SC Heerenveen. Veerman says that he really appreciates the interaction with his teammate in midfield.
PSV unofficially became Dutch champions on Thursday evening. When visiting SC Heerenveen, coach Peter Bosz’s team recorded its biggest away win in the Eredivisie ever: 0-8. Veerman himself was accurate once.
“If I had to highlight one teammate who I enjoyed the most? Schouten,” says Veerman without hesitating for long during the press moment. “We played together in midfield all season and at a certain point you grow closer.”
“It just becomes super easy at a certain point and you know exactly what each other is doing. If you also see how easily he turns away and how he plays balls in between the lines… That has really been an asset for us.”
Veerman also said that coach Peter Bosz was very complimentary about his team’s play afterwards. The midfielder rarely sees his coach in such a positive light, he says, laughing.
“Today he said he had never seen such a good match. That was very positive. We haven’t experienced that very often with him, haha!”
“Now we’ll go back on the bus and we’ll see. It actually doesn’t matter what happens at Feyenoord. It’s nice if we become champions today, but otherwise it will be next week.”
