Bram from ‘B&B Vol Liefde’ wore out women ‘as quickly as drink and drugs’

Bram’s childhood was tough. “My mother has a mental disorder, borderline, and I never knew my father. As a child I was on my own. My mother couldn’t take care of herself, let alone me. As a result, I have grown up quickly through trial and error.”

He is nineteen when he starts living on his own and breaks off contact with his mother. “It felt like liberation. Then I did everything that God forbade. I was completely unhinged. I smoked pot, drank a lot and had short-lived relationships. I slept with someone else every weekend, or sometimes with more than one, and wore women out as quickly as I did with alcohol and drugs. I used them for my own pleasure. That gave me a momentary sense of satisfaction.”

He now knows where that behavior came from. “That debauchery had to do with my youth. Living with my mother almost made me hate women.”

B&B Full of Love

He moves to Sweden with his dog Doggo, to go back to basics: growing his own food, hunting and lighting fires. It sounds like a dream, but it wasn’t always easy, he says. “I cried myself to sleep for nights with a bottle of booze.” He has now found his way in Sweden. He feels at home there and enjoys the space and beauty.
