Registrations ‘bar person’ First Dates closed prematurely, broadcaster has to choose from 1441 people

BNNVARA strongly stated that it was looking for a ‘bar person’, not specifically a bartender. Ultimately, three quarters of the applicants are men, a quarter are women. Half a percent of potential new ‘bar people’ identify themselves as gender neutral. Applicants mainly come from the big cities, with Amsterdam in first place.

The producer of the program will now consider how the perfect ‘new Victor’ should be chosen from these 1441 candidates. The broadcaster hopes to be able to say more about the procedure in the short term.

Victor Abeln (40) disappears behind the bar after eight years. He will still be in the 2024-2025 season First Datesrestaurant, then he goes on a world trip with his girlfriend. “After more than four thousand dates and all the wonderful, moving, funny and emotional conversations at this bar, I’m calling it quits for the time being,” Abeln said last week.

From the beginning of 2025 there will be a new face behind the bar.
