Several horses ran loose in central London this morning. Footage on X shows the animals running through the streets around Aldwych. All horses have now been captured, reports the police in the British capital.

According to The Telegraph, at least five people were injured, including a soldier. According to the newspaper, the horses belong to the stables of the British royal family. They are said to have broken out during an exercise on the Horse Guards Parade, a large parade ground where the traditional military parade ‘Trooping the Colour’ is held annually. That day also marks the birthday of the British monarch.

It is still unclear how many horses had broken free. Photos and videos show at least two horses, one of which appears to be covered in blood.

The horses ran straight through the center:

A taxi driver tells the BBC that he saw three horses galloping towards Buckingham Palace. “It sounded like there was a car accident.”

According to the driver, there was a van covered in blood at a hotel with a large dent in the side. “All the windows were broken, so I think the white horse ran into it.”
