They flock to Fujikawaguchiko to photograph the still active volcano. They cause quite a bit of nuisance: they ignore traffic rules, ignore instructions from security guards and leave a huge mess behind, reports The Guardian.

Unique combination

One place in particular in the city is very popular. In it you can see the mountain rising above a Lawson supermarket, which Japan is infested with. Such a ‘unique, typically Japanese’ combination is reason for tourists to flock there in large numbers, especially because the photogenic place is also extensively praised on social media.

But the city is now going to do something about it. There will be a 2.5 meter high and 20 meter wide black mesh fence, which will make the view a lot less interesting. This should stop the influx of hordes of tourists.

From the roof

The nearby dental practice will also be happy with the procedure. There has been parking chaos there for a long time, and there were even people climbing onto the roof of the building to take photos.

Fujikawaguchiko says he regrets the measure, but at least plans to leave the huge fence in place until the situation has normalized, a municipal official said.
