A zebra became famous last week after she escaped from a trailer in the US state of Washington and was not caught. Only after six days of wandering around did animal protection manage to catch the zebra.
Shugar, also known as Shug, was transported in a trailer to a petting zoo in late April with three other zebras. Along the way, the owner of the zebras was forced to stop along the road to solve a problem with the trailer.
While attempting to repair the trailer, all four zebras escaped. Three of them were soon captured, but Shug outsmarted everyone. The mare jumped over a fence and managed to escape. The animal wandered around Washington for a total of six days.

While the search was in full swing, a number of locals saw the zebra walking by and Shug soon became a familiar sight there. Residents joked about the animal and posted videos on social media of the zebra, which seemed to be having a great time in the forest. Some people put up signs saying ‘zebra crossing’ and local media talked about the ‘zearch‘ to Shug.
Ultimately, animal protection managed to capture the zebra. According to Regional Animal Services of King County, which led the search for the animal, the zebra is in good condition despite her nearly week-long adventure in the forest.
Shug is staying in a temporary shelter for the time being.
