How many beautiful children’s and young people’s books have been written lately. We have again made a top 6 for you this month. If you like Fantasy/magic or crime or humor, we have some great titles that you can add to the pile of books that you undoubtedly still want to read. With the May holidays just around the corner, it might be a good time to lie on the couch or in the sun with a good book. Here is our Young adult top May 6, 2024.


Mystery guest – Maren Stoffels

That stupid book – Tiny Fisscher

A book full of humor about Ivan’s life. Ivan is a teenager with ADHD and, like other teenagers, he thinks everything is stupid. When he receives an assignment to write a story in book form, he thinks about it That stupid book. He decides to write down a few days from his own life. His father goes missing and he goes on a search with his mother. He writes down the adventure he experiences in his book. It turns out to be a special adventure that is highly recommended to read!

An Iron Flame – Rebecca Yarros

The second part of the bestseller series Fourth Wing cannot of course be missing from our top 6. Because the second part is also a gem. After Violet managed to survive the first school year, she is at the start of the second year. It has literally been a life or death fight and miraculously she made it through the first year. But now comes the biggest test. She faces an impossible task. She has to betray the love of her life. How will she deal with this impossible conflict of loyalties?

Long live the emperor – Britt Zwijnenberg

A magical story about sixteen-year-old Usia who discovers that she possesses magic. For years she was told that magicians were a threat. She is therefore not happy when she discovers that she also possesses those powers. After it became undeniable, she decided to turn herself in. The emperor will help her. She finds out that magicians weren’t so bad and hopes to escape. An intense story that makes you curious for more!

The wanderings of Book – Melanie van de Peut

Book is an empty notebook on the bookshelf of a family in Syria. He is bullied by the other books on that bookshelf because he has no story. When the people in the family have to flee, Boek decides to come along. Boek creates his own story through the experiences he experiences during the journey. A moving and topical story written in a beautiful and original way.

They came to get us – Martine Letterie

A moving and true story about the Rijper family during the Second World War. The family was taken to the camp in Amersfoort. Martine Letterie was asked to write the story for the national monument camp Amersfoort. The Rijper family consists of father, mother and thirteen children. Unfortunately, not everyone from the Rijper family survived the camp. They are left with many questions.
