In April 2018, Bert Sliggers exhibited several hundred drawings from his collection by an anonymous American naval engineer at Galerie KRUIS-WEG68 in Haarlem.
He secretly made more than 4,000 drawings on notepad sheets over a period of twelve years (1950-1960). In this way he expressed his bondage and S&M aberrations and created a world full of bizarre fantasies. Shortly after its creation, the drawings disappeared behind the central heating where they were discovered after his death in 2010.
More than 500 of these intriguing products of outsider art have now been brought together in full size in the book FOR SALE. BDSM FANTASIES OF AN AMERICAN ENGINEER, in an edition of 500 copies published by the French publisher Le Denier Cri.
The drawings in the book are preceded by two introductions: those by the Frenchman Christophe Bier, specialized in BDSM on paper, and by the collector and writer Bert Sliggers.
On May 17, Bert Sliggers will present the book at 8 p.m. in Galerie KRUIS-WEG68 with a power point on how to read this book and place it in the world of BDSM and outsider art.
The book is for sale in the Gallery for 35 euros, while enthusiasts can also acquire the drawings depicted in the book.
