It’s that time again, April 1, the day of jokes, pranks and jokes. Omroep Flevoland has collected a selection of April Fool’s jokes from Flevoland for you.

Polder tower will shrink
An iconic symbol of the region faced a remarkable transformation today. The Polder Tower in Emmeloord would be shortened to 30 meters from today. This could be read on the Facebook page ‘Stad Emmeloord’. This is due to possible interference with the air lines of wind turbines.

The message provoked many reactions, such as: “This is the nicest April Fool’s joke ever” and “Nice April Fool’s joke, this… otherwise they should fire the creators of this on the spot.”

Exciting shops?
For a while it seemed that erotic online store EasyToys would open branches in Almere and Lelystad. But unfortunately, you have to go somewhere else for all your sex toys. It turned out to be an April Fool’s joke. There were posters in several storefronts in Almere and Lelystad stating that the EasyToys store would open soon.

VV Unicum becomes Bayer Lelystad
Football club VV Unicum from Lelystad announces on Instagram a mega deal with pharmaceutical company Bayer, which, according to the report, also sponsors the football clubs Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen. Together with the board, the pharmaceutical company will develop the renamed club ‘Bayer Lelystad’. German clubs are given priority over youth players, while German players in Lelystad can stay for free at Van der Valk to gain experience.

Below the message is one comment: “April 1st?”

Kruidnoten in March?
Only today you can get kruidnoten at the PLUS Postma supermarket in Lelystad. The store posts a photo on Facebook of four shelves richly filled with different types of spiced nuts. Unfortunately, this action is also a joke. The photo is from August 2022. Spice nut lovers will have to wait a little longer.

Toilet paper made from cellulose from Flevoland wastewater
The Zuiderzeeland Water Board recently started a project to remove the fiber cellulose from wastewater in Zeewolde. The cost of the filter is at least 2.5 million euros, but in the long term an environmental benefit can be achieved. On April 1, the water board will present the first toilet rolls made from the fibers. Colleagues from Zuiderzeeland were allowed to collect a maximum of 10 rolls per person at the purification in Zeewolde.

Walibi sells tickets at a discount?
Walibi Holland sows doubt about an action that should start tomorrow. Then 24,000 entrance tickets will go on sale for 24 euros each. Last year Walibi did a similar campaign that got completely out of hand. The server where orders could be placed crashed. People who couldn’t order tickets talked about scams. According to Walibi, it was not an April Fool’s joke, but the real intention was to sell the tickets at a discount.
