Cars with an electric motor such as hybrids or fully electric cars can brake using the electric motor. Although this provides more electricity in the battery pack and saves your brakes, it also has a disadvantage in the long term. Fortunately, there is a simple way to solve the problem.
Because hybrid and electric cars can already brake heavily using the engine, some owners hardly use the brake discs or drums. And that’s not always a good thing.
Problems with braking electric cars
Although you save the brakes and pads (or drums) of your electric car or hybrid by braking the engine a lot, never using the braking system can have unpleasant consequences.
If your car has been in the rain overnight, there is a good chance that there is already light rust on the brake disc. This is not a problem, with the first braking action the little bit of rust has already disappeared. However, if you only brake using the electric motor, the brake disc can corrode further.

It also often happens in electric cars and hybrids that the brake caliper gets stuck. A solution to these two problems is simple.
The solution
To prevent the two ailments of electric cars and hybrids, you need to use the braking system more often. To do this you have to press the pedal firmly. This way you prevent the brakes from no longer working properly when you really need them. Please note that there is no traffic behind you.
