Miljuschka Witzenhausen opens about broken relationship with father: ‘He chose it himself’ | RTL Boulevard

“I was able to enjoy him for quite a while,” Miljuschka says at the beginning of the video. Her father is an artist with a passion for cooking. A lot has changed in her teenage years. “I just haven’t had contact with him for a long time,” she says as she prepares a dish.

Around the age of 12, the relationship between Miljuschka and her father broke down. “If as a child you no longer have contact with one of your parents, that is actually very sad.” The fact that Miljuschka grew up with one parent had an impact on her self-confidence. “Especially because my father actually chose it himself.”

Lately, Miljuschka has been asked whether she will regret not seeing her father again before his death. Something she also thinks about. “How that all turned out is super personal. I tried and I just can’t get what I need from him as a child.” That’s why it’s over for her now.

Miljuschka has met her father occasionally since then. “At one point I lived two streets behind him. Then I even saw him with a new baby.” Her children in particular would like to meet their grandfather, but that option doesn’t fly. They have to make do with photos that Miljuschka has of him. “The pictures say enough, because I really look a lot like him.”

The TV chef has made peace with the fact that the contact is no longer there. “It is what it is. I’m not the type to dwell on the past.” Instead, Miljuschka tries to move on. She wants to beat the ‘gossip magazines’ and tell her own story. “I want to show you that when you miss a parent, you can still be okay.”

Despite not having a father figure in her life, her mother Astrid has always been there for her. “Mom, you definitely played both roles to the best of your ability.” Because this situation has had a major impact on her life, Miljuschka calls on parents to do things differently. “That you always try to keep the relationship with the other parent good.”
