Director Christopher Nolan and producer Emma Thomas receive a royal award for their contribution to the successful film Oppenheimer. They are appointed Knight and Dame of the Order of the British Empire, British media report.

Nolan and Thomas, who have been married to each other since 1997, are having great success Oppenheimer. Nolan directed the film and Thomas was responsible for production.

The blockbuster won seven Oscars earlier this month, including best film, actor and editing. That was it Oppenheimer this year’s big Oscar winner. It was the first time that Nolan won the statuette for best director. Dutch cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema took home the prize for best camera work.

Being appointed a Knight or Dame is one of the highest honors in the United Kingdom. The award is usually awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions within their field.
