The cathedral city of Utrecht will be buzzing for a week during Dutch Health Week from Sunday 7 to Sunday 14 April as ‘Utrecht, Heart of Health’. All kinds of activities for residents and healthcare professionals take place in hospitals, museums and sports clubs throughout the city during Dutch Health Week. From a sports lesson, a concert by the Alzheimer’s choir, an exhibition at the Utrecht University of the Arts (HKU), an open day at the blood bank to various healthcare trade fairs. With the aim of a healthy city and region of Utrecht.

Mayor Sharon Dijksma opens Dutch Health Week on World Health Day during the Cultural Sunday Beating Heart, which is organized by Utrecht Marketing. This official opening will take place on April 7 at Jaarbeursplein. During ‘Beating Heart’, residents discover how art and culture helps people to be healthy and happy.

Health in the broadest sense of the word

Audrey Wilschut, Dutch Health Week project leader: ‘We are very proud to officially open Dutch Health Week during World Health Day. The moment when we pay extra attention to the impact of nutrition, exercise and living conditions on the health of everyone. These are the topics that we pay a lot of attention to during Dutch Health Week, which is why we include ‘health’ in the broadest sense of the word. From education, science, culture, museums, housing, urban planning, mobility, catering, food to sports.’

Utrecht is the beating heart of health, art and culture

Dutch Health Week is an annual event in the city and region of Utrecht for all residents and healthcare professionals. Audrey Wilschut, project leader Dutch Health Week: ‘For one week we take art, culture, sports, catering, hotels and the entire city of Utrecht on our ‘healthy’ journey. Together we want to contribute to a healthy city and region of Utrecht.’ During Dutch Health Week, hospitals and other healthcare organizations open their doors to interested residents. Restaurants serve healthy menus. Sports clubs inspire Utrecht residents to literally get moving for their health. And tens of thousands of professionals from all over the country gain inspiration and knowledge during the Healthcare & ICT, Healthcare & Food and Healthcare & Facility trade fairs in Jaarbeurs.

Dutch Health Week is an event of Koninklijke Jaarbeurs, Utrecht Marketing, ROM Utrecht Region, Economic Board Utrecht and Municipality of Utrecht.
