GORREDIJK – The municipality of Opsterland, the police and Code Hans organized the Hunting Season event on Wednesday evening. Between 7:00 PM and 8:15 PM, approximately 120 young people between the ages of 12 and 18 fled from the police and law enforcement.

The goal: get a stamp at three stamp stations and reach the finish, without falling into the hands of the police or enforcement.

With the event, the organizing parties want to draw the attention of young people to the work of the police, the Licensing, Supervision and Enforcement (VTH) team, the Regional Information and Expertise Center (Riec) and their own youth welfare organization Code Hans.

The youth were explained the rules of the game in advance by youth Boa Elisa, after which Mayor Andries Bouwman gave the starting shot. The young people were given a 10-minute head start to avoid enforcement and the police.

The youth were very fanatical and certainly creative. The rules clearly stated that you had to complete the game on foot. A girl thought she could outsmart the police and enforcement to complete the game on a horse. Unfortunately for the girl, a rider is a full-fledged road user.

The youth had to get a total of three stamps at Speeltuin de Brouwerij, School Loevestein and Zwembad de Delte and then finish at the Skans. The youth became smarter and mainly took alleys and forest areas to reach their next point.

Things also went wrong while chasing two girls. An officer had gotten out and hid behind the bushes. A police car chased the girls towards the hidden officer. Due to the fanatical fight, the officer fell hard while tagging the girls. The girls were very caring and immediately asked how the officer was doing. Because the girls were so caring, the police let the girls walk away and they were able to continue the game.

At 7.48 pm Milan Stoelwinder arrived first at the Skans and walked away with the main prize. Willem Huiskamp managed to reach the finish in second place at around 7.52 pm. Siem de Jong, Sep Lok and Lieuwe Hamburg crossed the finish line together and all three finished third.

The police, the Licensing, Supervision and Enforcement (VTH) team, the Regional Information and Expertise Center (Riec) and youth welfare organization Code Hans look back on a successful evening in Gorredijk.
