The Netherlands is known for our strong business community. Thousands of companies, large and small, that together provide tens of thousands of jobs. Where the most beautiful products are made and services are provided. Where solutions are devised for the problems of the future and techniques that will be of great importance in the world in the coming years.
An example of the latter is the chip industry around Eindhoven. A company like ASML plays a crucial role in this. Also for the thousands of companies around it. Tens of thousands of people earn their living there every day. We can finance important things with the taxes these companies pay. Such as our healthcare, our education and our police.
So we must ensure that we keep these companies in the Netherlands. That they want to make their investments here. That the bright minds they need are trained here or want to come here to work. That is why the VVD thinks it is good that we invest in that region. In homes. In talent. In infrastructure. So that we remain at the forefront of this important industry. Micky Adriaansens has worked hard on this recently. And it worked. There is a nice package of 1.7 billion euros with which to invest in this region and this sector. And we can be proud of that.
