What do you get if you buy the cheapest home on Funda? A porch apartment? A studio? Wrong, it turns out to be a detached house.

We don’t have to tell you that the housing market is under pressure. Many young people cannot find a home and that is not surprising now that an average house will cost you more than 420,000 euros. This detached house costs a fraction of that.

Detached house on Funda for 85,000 euros

The house is located in Groningen’s Ter Apelkanaal, a village next to Ter Apel (where you can even buy villas for cheap due to all the fuss). Well, if you want to live cheaply, you have to look far from civilization. Things are different in Sweden, where this private island with house and guesthouse near Stockholm is for sale for a remarkably low amount.

Anyway, back to the Netherlands. The living area of 68 square meters may not be enough, but we have nothing to complain about the plot size. The total piece of land is no less than 680 square meters. And for all that you pay – hold on – 85,000 euros.

The cheapest home in the Netherlands is a handyman house

Of course, there is a reason for that low price. The ad text makes it clear that a lot still needs to be done at the Funda house. “The house is in poor condition and needs to be completely renovated or demolished,” writes the real estate agent.

You can buy this villa for the average house price near the German border

There is little to say about the interior based on the limited photos. The real estate agent does report that the living room is equipped with a wood-burning stove. The floor plan drawing shows that all rooms are separate. So no kitchen. There is also a dividing wall between the bathroom and the toilet.

Maybe you can demolish a few walls during the renovation. The elongated, but overgrown backyard also deserves some attention. Well, that’s going to get expensive. Anyway, you probably still have some budget left if you buy the cheapest Funda house in our country.
