Poet bus driver Ronald IJpma, first district poet of the Lewenborg Groningen district

--

Lewenborg has a neighborhood poet: Ronald IJpma. In his role as neighborhood poet, Ronald will, among other things, write about the neighborhood and be involved in activities related to poetry.

Until recently, Lewenborg did not have a district poet; Ronald now has the scoop to start this. The district poet will be introduced to the district on Saturday, May 11, in Het Dok, Lewenborg.

For the first time in Lewenborg’s history, the district has its own poet. Ronald IJpma will fulfill this role for at least one year. As a neighborhood poet, Ronald will write and recite poems about topics that are important in the neighborhood.

He will also be involved in organizing activities around poetry and spoken word.

Bus driver

In his daily life, Ronald works as a bus driver at Qbuzz. He even wrote a rap about his life and work as a bus driver. His talent for poetry has not gone unnoticed by the management, who are now considering using Ronald’s rap as a figurehead for the recruitment of new employees.

Poetry is deeply woven into Ronald’s life. He has already collaborated with Forum to use his language skills to discuss low literacy, and he also provides Spoken Word lessons for asylum seekers.

Now Ronald brings his poetry to Lewenborg. Get to know him during the presentation on May 11. Cultural coach Michiel will officially introduce him to the neighborhood at 1 p.m. During the presentation you will find out what Ronald will do for the neighborhood and you can of course become acquainted with his poetry. There is also a nice surprise act planned.

About Ronald IJpma

Ronald IJpma (Groningen, March 19, 1985). Ronald has been writing and philosophizing from an early age. This resulted in poetic forms of poetry at an early age.

Due to his creative nature and explosive energy, he often felt unheard. As an ADHD stutterer, he found it difficult to master his language skills at a young age. However, this did not stop him from continuing to philosophize and write.

Nowadays he knows how to express his often profound, multi-layered and moving lyrics rhythmically, poetically and on point. Poetic forms, spoken word, poetry and music are a recurring and ever-present phenomenon in his life.
