The National Mill Day, the largest mill festival in the Netherlands, will take place again on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 May. Hundreds of wind and water mills throughout the Netherlands open their doors to receive visitors.
There are thousands of volunteers active in Molenland. As a miller but also as mill guides, in education teams or in mill shops where flour, mustard, oil and more mill products are sold. During National Mill Day 2024, mill owners, millers and mill guides like to share their passion and stories. There are various tours, exhibitions and demonstrations and pancakes are baked at many flour mills.

At the Prins Bernhardmolen in Melick there are old Dutch games, children can do crafts and flour sales and at the Armenmolen in Neeritter you can listen to a storyteller. Or visit the Schousmolen in Thorn, the Leonardusmolen in Maasbracht or De Grauwe Beer in Beesel. This mill is a household name in the mill world, because it is said to have been the very first overhead sawmill, built in 1604 in Zaandam. The year of construction has now been adjusted slightly upwards, namely 1614, but there is no evidence that the mill founded at that time was indeed an upper porter. However, it remains a beautiful story.
