The government is releasing 10 million euros to invest in the broad prosperity of North Limburg. To promote cooperation, the government also expects a contribution from the local government and from the initiators who start a project in the Regional Deal. The goal is to initiate a healthy wave in North Limburg in collaboration with entrepreneurs, social organizations, educational institutions, government and 290,000 residents.

The Healthiest Region is a network of partners and ambassadors who care about health and the future of this region. Together they set the healthy wave in motion. That is why the North Limburg Region, Crossroads Limburg, educational institutions, entrepreneurs and social partners are working intensively together to make the deal a success.
In 2023, the North Limburg Region, together with the Province of Limburg and partners from education, business and social partners, started preparing for a Regional Deal. The focus is on four important themes:
- Knowledge, research & sustainable entrepreneurship: By developing, sharing knowledge and looking for innovative and responsible ways of doing business, everyone involved works towards a healthier entrepreneurial climate and knowledge ecosystem.
- Developing & retaining talent: the quality of life in a region is largely determined by the people who live, study and work there. By allowing everyone to participate and jointly maintaining the facilities, it is possible to build an attractive region for current and future residents and employees.
- Vital communities & positive health: Communities that take good care of themselves and each other contribute to a vital and healthy North Limburg. Everyone involved is therefore working towards a society in which residents look out for and care for each other. This makes it possible to create a region in which everyone, from young to old, feels at home. An important starting point for stimulating vital communities is the Positive Health philosophy.
- Safety & undermining: Safety is an important basis for all residents and entrepreneurs. Undermining crime manifests itself in many forms and causes complex problems, for example in rural areas and among vulnerable groups. Collaboration is essential for an effective approach. Significant investments have been made in this area in recent years. This trend will continue in the coming years.
The parties that are part of the Regional Deal invite the partners to discuss ideas and promising initiatives. In the coming months, these conversations will mainly focus on the content so that a good picture is created in the short term about promising initiatives for the Regional Deal. Once this initial exploration is complete, the proposals will be discussed with administrators and government departments. Companies, institutions and other partners must also decide whether to participate in this Regional Deal.
After the summer, initiators can continue working on the concrete details. The official subsidy applications will follow in the fourth quarter of 2024. Before the projects can start, it is important to make good agreements with the government and the Province of Limburg and then record them. In May, the North Limburg Region will submit a draft agreement to the government. Once the agreement has been approved by all parties, it will be signed. Only then will the Regional Deal be truly official.
