The resident was seriously injured in a fire that broke out in a terraced house at the Langenhof in Oosterhout on Friday evening around half past twelve. She was taken to a hospital with severe burns. The fire started after a heavy explosion. The fire was brought under control around a quarter to two in the morning.

The explosion caused the front of the house to fall onto the street. “A gas explosion, heavy fireworks or a combination are suspected,” the Safety Region reported. “There is no reason to think that this is an attack.”

As a precaution, the residents of nine houses were evacuated. They were taken care of by neighbors. Residents of five of the nine houses were allowed back into their homes shortly before 2 a.m. “Unfortunately, the residents of four houses had to be accommodated elsewhere for the night,” the Safety Region said.

Mayor Mark Buijs of Oosterhout talked to the residents. The Strijenstraat was closed for a long time.

Fire
The explosion severely damaged both the front and rear facades of the house. Around a quarter past one, the Safety Region reported that the fire was under control, and the fire was declared under control 45 minutes later.

The fire brigade deployed a lot of equipment to ensure that the fire did not spread to the other houses. The fire brigade came to the Langenhof with, among other things, three tankers, an aerial work platform and special vehicles for water transport.
