Earlier this month, the KNVB licensing committee punished Vitesse with eighteen points deduction for violations of the financial rules. The club therefore disappears from the Eredivisie after 35 years. Vitesse still retained the license to complete this season.

“We notice the urge among our supporters to support Vitesse,” says interim director Edwin Reijntjes on the club’s website. “I receive a lot of personal messages from supporters who want to help the club in one way or another. That is desperately needed. We hope to be able to respond to this soon. For now I am already very proud of the support and the amount of support. in the coming matches.”

Payment arrangements

Vitesse has a total debt of 18.9 million euros and will try to make payment arrangements with creditors through a special legal procedure. The Common Group of American investor Coley Parry is the largest creditor. He saw a takeover fail because the licensing committee was not convinced that Parry has equity and investors.

The club had a meeting on Friday with the licensing committee, the KNVB, the current shareholder and Hanneke De Coninck, who, as the restructuring expert, must prevent Vitesse from going bankrupt. “We have had an illuminating conversation and will be in close contact again next week. However, the gist is clear; a lot has to be done in a very short time,” says Reijntjes.
