Bookseller and Dylan adept Hans Loeve will give a lecture about Bob Dylan on Friday, May 24, at the Riemer bookstore on Nieuwe Ebbingestraat in Groningen.

Loeve, who was named Bookseller of the Year last August, gives an annual lecture about the American singer and lyricist on or around his birthday. This year the lecture in Groningen will take place exactly on the day that Bob Dylan turns 83.

“This evening we will first visit all Dylan activities from the past year,” says Loeve. ‘We explore anecdotes and of course we hear a lot of music. This time the emphasis is on his harmonica playing, of which we will hear solos during concerts lasting several minutes.’

‘Unforgettable introduction to his music’

Loeve emphasizes that there is little or no overlap compared to previous editions. ‘For seasoned fans I provide little-known facts, while for people who are “just curious” or don’t know Dylan very well, they will have an unforgettable introduction to his music.’

The lecture in the store at Nieuwe Ebbingestraat 1 starts at 8 p.m. and lasts approximately two hours. You can register via this link .

Dylan in Amsterdam

Bob Dylan was last in the Netherlands in 2022, when he gave two almost sold-out concerts in Amsterdam’s AFAS Live on October 16 and 17 of that year, in honor of his recent and 39th studio album Rough and Rowdy Ways . Smartphones were not allowed to be used at either performance; they were sealed in a special case upon arrival.
