An overwhelming majority of the village of Schore is strongly opposed to the replacement of two small mills on the Schoorse Zeedijk with new ones with a tip height of 180 meters. During the April council meeting, Mackintosh spoke soothing words and emphasized that no permit application had yet been submitted to the municipality of Kapelle. In this council, André Schrier of the threshing council Schrier and fellow villager Hanna Zandee asked the council for an explanation about the state of affairs.

Mackintosh therefore goes back on his earlier statement, because there is a permit application for one of the two mills on the table. However, the council is awaiting additional documents and the outcome of a GGD study into health effects. The local minister is said to have chosen his words “unfortunately” last month, he wrote in an apology message to the council.

Both Zandee and Schrier received this explanation on Monday. The village councilor reacts laconically to the apology from the Kapelse council, three weeks after the council meeting in question. “Apparently the alderman was no longer entirely sure what the deal was with those mills,” Schrier notes. “It’s very honest that he admits that. It’s nice that he eventually also informs us, as speakers, about it. Better late than never.”

Party chairman Jordy van Leeuwen, of the opposition party Gemeentebelang Kapelle, does not hide his displeasure with Mackintosh’s “turn”. “What do you mean, the councilor was confused for a moment? He informed the council incorrectly. Our group takes this seriously.” Van Leeuwen finds it strange that the councilor would have made such a mistake. “Certainly if you know that speakers are coming to the council, then as a council you prepare well for this file.” The councilor also has nothing good to say about informing the village council (too) late. “This could have prevented a huge amount of unrest.” During the protest meeting in the village hall ‘t Durpshart, Tuesday April 30, the Kapelse council and the project developer were not present. Councilors from factions other than Gemeentebelang also did not show up in ‘t Durpshart.
