What punishment will 25-year-old girl extortionist receive in largest online abuse case?

Most victims are minors and come from all over the country. De W. approached the girls via Instagram and Snapchat. He always followed the same course of action. He offered money to send nude photos. He eventually seduced the girls into sending nude photos. As soon as he had a nude photo in his possession, he threatened to put it online if the girl did not send more images. In some cases he did.

Gianni de W. also made victims in Zeeland. In the lawsuit, they were referred to as “Girl 5” and “Girl 13.” ‘Girl 5’ told her story at Omroep Zeeland. For this 23-year-old woman from Goes, it all started on Snapchat in 2019. She received a request from a certain Bryan to add him and did so. Ultimately, Bryan, alias Gianni de W., blackmailed the woman with an existing nude photo that she had once sent to someone else. She reported it to the police. It was only a few years later that the police were able to help her because the blackmailer was only found then.

The woman was present at the first day of hearing in March. Her victim statement was read out by her lawyer. She thought it was important that the perpetrator heard what he had done. “He did this to me in 2019, but I have also suffered a lot from it in recent years. Pain, sadness, shame, no longer having confidence in men. I have also received help for that.”

The other Zeeland victim, ‘girl 13’, was 15 years old during the abuse in 2020. She initially had nice conversations with him via Snapchat. Soon he was asking for nude photos. The girl was vulnerable and eventually sent 61 child pornographic photos under duress.

The lawyer read a victim statement on behalf of the parents of ‘girl 13’ during the hearing in March. “Our daughter was a nice, cheerful, creative girl. Everything seemed to be going well. Until June 2020. Then she isolated herself more and more, had angry moods, crying fits, became short and could no longer be cuddled. That was incomprehensible to us, until we received a call from the vice squad. Then the pieces of the puzzle fell together.”

The court in Breda will rule in this case soon at 10 a.m.
