Not only the album The Tortured Poets Department is doing well, but Taylor Swift’s new single Fortnight is also going very well. It is the highest entry in the Dutch Top 40 this week.
25 (–) FORTNIGHT – Taylor Swift ft. PostMalone
Taylor Swift and Post Malone set a record last week with Fortnight. On the day of its release, last Friday, the track was streamed no less than 25 million times worldwide. No other song was played more times in one day. The old record was just under twenty million and was held by Adele’s Easy On Me from 2021. The release of Fortnight coincided a week ago with Taylor’s new album, The Tortured Poets Department. Taylor devised and directed the video clip for her eighteenth Top 40 hit herself. In addition to Taylor and Post, you will encounter two more familiar faces. Hollywood actors Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles can be seen as doctors in white coats.
27 (–) BEFORE YOU KNOW IT – Tino Martin & Anouk
‘No you have, yes you can have’. That saying certainly applies to Tino Martin. When the 40-year-old Hagenees was working on new songs, he quickly came to the conclusion that Voor Je ‘T Weet would work best as a duet. It was Tino’s girlfriend who came up with the idea of asking Anouk, even though he had no confidence at all that she would want to participate. Tino sent a demo and to his surprise Anouk was enthusiastic and liked the duet. The result is this ‘collaboration between a transphobe and a severe alcoholic’, as Anouk self-mockingly describes her duet with Tino, referring to everything that they have both had to deal with recently. Qmusic chose Voor Je ‘T Weet as the Alarm disc.
35 (–) PEDRO – Jaxomy & Agatino Romero & Raffaella Carrà
Just under three years ago, on July 5, 2021, the Italian singer Raffaella Carrà passed away. She is best known in the Netherlands for the hit A Far L’Amore Comincia Tu, with which she reached third place in the Top 40 in 1977. It remained that one success in our country, although Raffaella would score a second hit in 2011 because Bob Sinclar used her classic for his own Far L’Amore. The fact that Raffaella is now posthumously back in the Top 40 is thanks to the German DJ and producer Tom Jahn, alias Jaxomy, and his colleague and compatriot Agatino Testa alias Agatino Romero. Together they made a remix of another Raffaella song: Pedro from 1980. That is a big hit on TikTok and Spotify and is now also in the Top 40.
