She had to blink when she opened her phone on Monday. On Instagram, Jetske Kox (44) from Casteren saw that Robbie Williams had shared one of her illustrations. “Crazy to think he looked at my work,” she says. It is not the first time that Jetske has experienced something special with the world-famous singer. Six years ago, Robbie Williams ensured that Jetske’s boyfriend proposed to her.
Robbie Williams recently shared on Instagram that he wanted to give artists the space to show themselves on his page. On Sunday, followers could therefore nominate people. “He has been working on art a lot lately. He shares self-made illustrations almost every day,” says Jetske.
When the call came, she seized her chance. Jetske makes her own illustrations and has them printed on cards or posters. She does this in addition to her work as a digital design teacher at De Rooi Pannen in Tilburg. “My niece and a few friends nominated me.”
The next morning it turned out that Robbie Williams had chosen her work. One of her illustrations now shows off on the singer’s Instagram page. “I thought that was very bizarre to see,” says Jetske cheerfully. The world-famous singer also wrote some sweet words: “Jetske and I have not met each other, but I feel that you are kind, loving and gentle. And who wouldn’t want that kind of energy in their life?”
“I’ve gotten a lot of responses from people.”
It is an illustration of an oil can with the words ‘Oil ove u’. “This is one of the first illustrations I made in a series of cards. I draw a lot of packaging with puns on it,” says Jetske. “I made it a while ago, so he or someone from his team must have looked for it on my page. So an effort was made to view my work. That’s so crazy.”
“It’s great that he gives the work of others a platform.”
Thanks to Robbie Williams, Jetske is now receiving a huge response to her work. “Also from people I don’t know. I find that very special. It’s cool that he gives the work of others a platform. I’m impressed by that.”
And it is not the first time that Jetske has experienced something special with the singer. Six years ago, Robbie Williams ensured that Chris, Jetske’s boyfriend at the time, asked her to marry him. “Robbie Williams called often then live people on Instagram, where people could watch.”
“I then sent him a message to ask if he wanted to convince my boyfriend to propose to me. Robbie then suddenly actually called. I had to give my phone to Chris. Robbie Williams talked to him and then Chris got down on one knee. We are now married.”
