Eurovision Song Contest update: Joost Klein dropped out of top 5 at bookmakers | Eurovision Song Contest

--

According to bookmakers, the Netherlands has less and less chance of winning Eurovision. Joost Klein remains sober about it, it appears. My name is Lara Zevenberg and I will update you from Malmö.

Joost Klein has dropped out of the top five at the bookmakers. The Netherlands had to make way for Ireland, because journalists and fans are very impressed by Bambie Thug. The artist’s performance is bizarre for three consecutive minutes and that generates a lot of attention.

Klein responded on Instagram with a poster: “Breaking news: bookmakers don’t want you to vote for him. This is not a joke entry.” Or in Dutch: “Big news: bookmakers don’t want you to vote for him. This participation is no joke.”

It was Jacqueline Govaert’s first evening as a commentator. Jan Smit has said goodbye to the Eurovision Song Contest and Cornald Maas has started looking for a successor. Govaert was also involved in the selection of Joost Klein and is therefore already well versed in the matter.

“My life has revolved around music and songs in one form or another for as long as I can remember. I have always followed the Eurovision Song Contest and gave cheerful commentary, but at home from the couch. So it is extra special to be hosting it this year from Malmö next to Cornald I’m really looking forward to it!” she said earlier.

This semi-final also had two other Dutch touches: the Cyprus song (Liar) was written by the Dutch Elke Tiel. And dancer Jesse Wijnans is on stage in Finland.

Joost Klein will be back on stage from tomorrow, when the rehearsals for the second semi-final start. Still, the show is really worth watching again tonight. If only to see this year’s potential winner in the first semi-final. Croatia was on the podium tonight and, according to the bookmakers, is this year’s winner.
