There was a ‘treatment relationship’ between the victim and the suspect in the past, a spokesperson for the Public Prosecution Service (OM) said. This means that the victim has treated the woman in the past. The woman worked at Mondriaan for almost twenty years.
The employee was part of the ForFACT team; a program in which care providers from different disciplines, such as psychiatrists, nurses and social workers, work together in the field of treatment and guidance of clients.
‘Great emptiness’
The death of the mental health care worker leaves ‘a big void’ in the organization, the Mondriaan institution said. “Our colleague was spontaneous, enthusiastic, driven and worked from her heart,” said a statement. “This loss affects us all deeply.”
Colleagues describe the woman as ‘powerful, committed, knowledgeable and focused on collaboration’. “We are going to miss her terribly.”
Suspected of murder or manslaughter
The police are investigating what exactly happened. Mondriaan makes no statements about the incident.
The suspect will appear in court tomorrow. The woman was initially suspected of attempted murder or manslaughter, but this was changed to murder or manslaughter following the death of the victim.
