Transavia training plane crashed in Zwarte Meer near Flevoland | NOW

--

A sports aircraft with room for two occupants crashed on Tuesday morning in the Zwarte Meer between Flevoland and Overijssel. There is no word yet on any casualties. It concerns an aircraft of the Self Flying flying school, where future pilots of Transavia follow their training, the airline reports.

The plane has already been located in the water, emergency services are on their way, the security region said. Diving teams from Flevoland and Overijssel have also been called up.

The Coast Guard also says it will help with the rescue, as well as the Royal Dutch Rescue Company (KNRM). They are standing by on the lake near Urk with boats, a helicopter and an airplane, a Coast Guard spokesman said.

It is not known to Transavia whether future pilots of the airline were also on the plane, how many people were in the aircraft and what exactly happened. The company reports that it is doing everything it can to gather more information about the crash as soon as possible.

The aircraft would have taken off from Lelystad Airport at 10:44 am, according to unconfirmed data from RadarBox, a website for tracking aircraft. According to those data, it would be a Blackshape Gabriel aircraft, which flying school Self Flying uses as a training aircraft.
