Slot is counting on a quick agreement with Liverpool: ‘Very good offer made’

Arne Slot expects that his transition to Liverpool will be complete in the short term, the Feyenoord coach confirmed to NOS after the match with Go Ahead Eagles. “I am confident that everything will turn out well,” says Slot. “I think a very good offer has already been made.”

Feyenoord and Liverpool are currently negotiating. Slot expects that the clubs will reach an agreement within a few days and that he will succeed Jürgen Klopp at the Premier League club. “I assume so. But I don’t decide.”

Slot hopes for ‘a bit of gratitude’ from Feyenoord

Slot has a contract in Rotterdam until mid-2026. Since the contract does not contain a buyout clause, Feyenoord can ask for a significant transfer fee. The coach hopes that Feyenoord does not ask for the main prize for him.

“It is a decision for the club,” Slot continues. “On the one hand, the club quite rightly wants to get a lot of money out of it and on the other hand, I think there will be some gratitude from their side for the past three years. A balance will have to be found in terms of transfer fee. It depends on the management of both clubs. I’m just sketching a scenario of how I think it should go.”

Liverpool’s interest pleases Slot. “But it is not the first time that a major club has shown interest,” he says. Last year Tottenham Hotspur were interested. “Then I made the choice to stay. That was a good choice for all parties. Now another big club is reporting. I am waiting to see how that will turn out.”
