The Dutch game developer Paladin Studios is closing its doors after nineteen years. The company, known for games such as Good Job and Stormbound, says it does not make enough money to stay in business.

“Unfortunately, we have not received enough work in recent months to reduce our burn rate [de snelheid waarmee geld wordt uitgegeven, red.] “, the company writes in a blog. On May 1, according to the studio, a turning point in financial security was reached. “Continuing with the current prospects would have been an irresponsible decision.”

The studio is therefore now closing its doors. All games created by Paladin Studios will continue to exist. The developer says it plans to continue to provide (technical) support for those games, also in the future.

Paladin Studios started in 2005 as a ‘mini-studio’. In 2021, the game Good Job won the prizes for Best Game and Best Game Design at the Dutch Game Awards. At its peak, the studio employed 55 people; now there are 45. The studio calls on other companies with vacancies to contact them. “These people are some of the best in the industry.”

Update 1:41 PM: The article incorrectly stated that Paladin Studios is known for Moving Out. That had to be Good Job. The article has been adjusted accordingly.

The article is in Netherlands
