The accident happened yesterday around 4.30 pm at an intersection in the town of La Bastide-Pradines. Two cars collided head on. There were three people in the first car, including two Dutch people in their sixties. They died in the accident.

The third occupant, a 54-year-old man, was rushed to a nearby hospital. It is unknown how he is now.

Children injured

There were four people in the other car: two women aged 40 and 42 and two children (8 and 10). All four of them were also injured; the 10-year-old child was so serious that it had to be taken to hospital by helicopter.

The French police are investigating the circumstances of the accident and are asking witnesses to come forward.
