The final of the most prestigious tournament in club hockey is not only a match between two Dutch clubs, but also between the two great players so far: Duco Telgenkamp on behalf of Kampong and Pinoké goalgetter Joep Troost.

Telgenkamp cried out after taking advantage of Kampong’s decisive shoot-out against Rot-Weiss Köln on Sunday. After an insane match, his team will be in the EHL final for the first time since 2018, this afternoon at 4:15 PM in Amstelveen.

“I will never forget this match. You feel the entire crowd and the atmosphere. It gets into your body and it shoots in all directions,” the Utrecht star said afterwards.

Watch the reactions of Telgenkamp, Van Hattum and Troost after their semi-final here:

The 21-year-old hockey player from The Hague had his big breakthrough last year. As a striker, he scored the most goals of all players in the Tulp Hoofdklasse and was allowed to make an appearance in the big Dutch team. And the attacker is also excelling again in the EHL.

In the quarter-finals, the Hague striker scored the decisive goal against Gantoise and in the semi-finals he was also important for Kampong with a goal, and therefore the decisive shoot-out.

The attacker wants to make his mark again in the final. “That’s really going to be a battle. I would say, come and have a look.”

Sold out house

Those words were listened to. The men’s final, but also the women’s final between Amsterdam and Mannheim, is completely sold out.

The matches will also be shown on NOS.nl and on NPO 1:

The crowd in the Wagener Stadium will not only see Telgenkamp. Eyes will undoubtedly also be on Joep Troost. The 22-year-old striker from Pinoké has often been the saving angel of his team in the premier league and also appeared to be able to find the net in his first international matches for the Dutch team.

In the EHL he has also scored three times and was named ‘Man of the Match’ twice. Every time the attacker seems to be in the right place to score a goal.

“Why is that? I have no idea, but I think it should continue as long as possible. I am always hungry to score goals and I am very happy with it.”

An extra day of rest for Pinoké

The attacker hopes to repeat the scoring in the final. In any case, Troost is well rested at the start, because Pinoké already played in the semi-finals on Saturday and had a day more rest than opponent Kampong.

“That’s quite nice. We only come here for one purpose and that is to hold the gold medal in our hands.”

His teammate Jannis van Hattem agrees, but would also have given Kampong that day of rest. “I think the organization should take a critical look at it. It is not fair if one of the finalists has more rest and you must have a fair final.”
