Van Gerwen also beats Wattimena and is in the semi-finals in Munich | Darts

--

Michael van Gerwen convincingly reached the semi-finals of the German Darts Grand Prix on Monday. The three-time world champion was much too strong for compatriot Jermaine Wattimena in Munich: 6-2.

Van Gerwen had been warned in advance about Wattimena, who had previously booked nice victories over Stephen Bunting (6-2) and Dave Chisnall (6-5). Against the 34-year-old Van Gerwen, a victory was soon no longer possible for Wattimena.

Van Gerwen broke Wattimena at the second chance and quickly expanded to 4-1 in the match. In that position he still had to surrender his own leg, but Van Gerwen never encountered any problems against his compatriot.

Earlier on Monday, Van Gerwen had already made a convincing impression by beating Joe Cullen 6-0. In the semi-finals, the Dutchman will face the German public favorite Martin Schindler.

The other semi-final is in Munich between Gerwyn Price and Luke Humphries. The latter defeated Danny Noppert 2-6 in the quarter-finals.

The German Darts Grand Prix is the second tournament of the so-called European Tour. Three weeks ago the first meeting of this season took place in Wieze, Belgium. Then the overall victory went to Luke Littler. The young Englishman will not be in Munich this Easter weekend.
