Marko makes Perez revelation: “He wanted a three-year deal”

It is no secret that Sergio Perez would like to extend his contract with Red Bull Racing. The Mexican has made his wishes known in the media, but Red Bull has not yet announced anything. Helmut Marko reports that a possible new contract will have nothing to do with the new rules of 2026.

Perez has an expiring contract with the Red Bull team. This means he must perform well to be eligible for a new deal. There are several privateers on the coast, but so far Perez is performing as desired. The Mexican therefore expressed his wishes out loud. He would like to have a new two-year deal, so that the team can have continuity in terms of drivers and because this would be good in view of the new rules of 2026.

The team does not insist that Red Bull wants to go along with Perez’s wishes. Team advisor Helmut Marko tells Motorsport.com what the negotiations look like at the moment: “We are not yet in a position to finalize everything. But in any case it has nothing to do with the new regulations. He knows that He has to perform. At first he wanted a three-year contract, but we will find a solution.”
