FC Twente is already busy with the upcoming transfer period because of European football

--

FC Twente is currently third in the Premier League and will play European football anyway. Joseph Oosting came to the club as a new trainer in the summer and had to forget about successful trainer Ron Jans. Many players left, but the new coach is still performing better than the previous season. For now, our focus is on the upcoming summer transfer period.

Oosting looks back on his appointment and analyzes how things are going now. “No one expected that it would go so well. I had very big shoes to fill. Ron Jans has of course done very well here with his staff. On that basis we have been able to continue development. I am very grateful to the players for their share. I am happy and proud that I can work here. We are doing well, and I have only just started here. For me, the feeling has to be good. Fortunately, it clicks on both sides,” he says in conversation with Voetbal International.

The new trainer arrived at a club where many trendsetters from the previous season left. “That was also last summer, when artists left. Cerny, Misidjan, Zerrouki. We also lost important guys like Pleguezuelo and Brama. Ugalde and Brenet left in the meantime. But we were able to absorb it all.”

FC Twente’s focus is currently on the upcoming transfer period, as it will now play at least eight European matches. “Now we are busy with a view to next season, what needs to happen. We are a top five club, we are third, and next year we will have European football. That will be very interesting again. It is all development. The club is well on its way.”

Club icon Wout Brama also returns, who will play an important role in the development of the young players. “The fact that he is going to strengthen the staff is also an example of this. We are a club that has to develop players and ultimately sell them. Wout is someone who knows what it means to be a professional football player, who can hold a mirror up to boys. Players can him, in a new role. It is great that these types of people, with such status as players and persons, are going to help us,” he concludes.
