Darter Kim Huybrechts has been injured in a remarkable way. The Belgian suffered a broken collarbone in a brawl after the cup final in Belgian football.

Huybrechts was a supporter in the stands on Thursday at the final between Royale Union and Antwerp (1-0). The native of Antwerp is a fan of the club of coach Mark van Bommel.

Attacked from behind

The Facebook page of his dart shop describes how the 38-year-old Huybrechts was injured. When he walked through a park towards the supporters bus after the match in Brussels, he was allegedly attacked from behind and received several kicks.

The right-handed Huybrechts, the current number 33 in the world rankings, suffered a double fracture in his right collarbone. He will undergo surgery on his throwing arm today and will be out of action for weeks.

The first major darts tournament on the calendar is the World Cup of Darts, at the end of June in Frankfurt. Huybrechts could form a duo there with Dimitri Van den Bergh, the highest ranked Belgian in the world rankings.

Argument in Belgian camp

Although it is still unclear whether the two Belgians want to form a duo. Van den Bergh and Huybrechts do not get along well, which is why Van den Bergh would rather play with Mike De Decker in the Belgian team.

Last year, Huybrechts was fined by the PDC after he threatened De Decker.
