Ajax is reportedly interested in the services of trainer Erik ten Hag, but it is unlikely that the Dutchman will return to Amsterdam. Sami Mokbel reports this DailyMail.

It is not expected that Ten Hag and his assistants will close the door behind United, as the trainer still sees potential in the project at the club. Ajax must therefore hope that the coach is fired by United, says Mokbel. Owner Jim Ratcliffe will make a choice about the former Ajax coach after the season. The FA Cup final may play an important role. United will take on Manchester City. In the competition, sixth place seems to be the highest achievable.

The Ajax management seems to want to remain patient and wait for Ratcliffe’s decision, but it remains to be seen whether the dream candidate can actually be brought in. Ten Hag would prefer to seek refuge in the five most important competitions in Europe, so a return to Ajax is not expected. Mokbel also does not think that Ten Hag wants to be at the helm of the Amsterdam club, which is in a full transition period.

Sjaak Swart introduces a new name as trainer of Ajax. “I think he is a good trainer, he is certainly a candidate.”
