Simons is currently on loan from Paris Saint-Germain to RB Leipzig. It is the second season in a row that the 21-year-old attacking midfielder and winger has been posted elsewhere by the French superpower, because last year he temporarily played for PSV.

Although Simons is appreciated at PSG, coach Luis Enrique’s club is not yet sure whether it wants to use the Dutch international next season. According to transfer specialist Ben Jacobs, a new rental period beckons, but a permanent departure of Simons from Paris is not inconceivable if an ‘exceptional’ offer reaches the offices of the French club.

Barcelona is in dire straits financially, but is nevertheless investigating the possibilities of bringing Simons back, reports Alvarez Haya. The technically gifted footballer played in Barcelona’s youth academy from 2010 to 2019, but a breakthrough failed to materialize. Nevertheless, Simons would be thrilled about a return to the Catalan club. His contract with PSG runs for another three years after this season.
