Horner about Newey’s departure: ‘Time to rest’

Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner thinks that designer Adrian Newey will not work for another team for the time being. “He said that about the immediate future. He has been in Formula 1 for more than thirty years. He feels that it is time to take a rest…”

Last week it was announced that Newey, responsible for the cars with which Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen won their world titles at Red Bull, is leaving the team after 19 years. In the coming months, he will only be busy working on Red Bull’s road-suitable sports car.

“He has been with us for almost twenty years and has played a big role in everything we have achieved. To use his own words, he lives in the moment, after all the time he has spent in Formula 1, he is now doing he takes a step back and distances himself from the sport.”

Horner says he is not worried about the future of the team. “We have a great technical team, which he has helped build. He feels the team is now in a position where he can take a step back.”
